Brief Story of Master Huo Yuan Jia

The Founder of Chinwoo

Master HuoYuanJia, our respectable hero came from a well-known family in Tianjin Chinghai, Hebei China. His father, the late Huo Eande and his other brothers spent most of their time in practicing the Chinese Wushu. Huo YuanJia was was not in good health, he fallen sick and weak very often during the childhood. His father did not allow him to be included in the wushu training because of his illness. However, this did no stop him from take up the art, he was very powerful in his believes and thinking and determined to practice wushu in a place out of the sight of his father. He learned the wushu steps by watching and peeping thru the fencing of training ground whenever his other brothers were learning and training. By copying the steps Huo practices the wushu late at night. He not only recovered from his childhood illness, but also obtained the skill and spiritual of the art, emphasizing the upbringing of moral and facts in life. He was ambitious to build up a Great Harmony Community.

In the year before the Dynasty Ching ruling, Huo followed his friend moved to the southern region. He planned to challenge a Europe wrestler, who humiliated Chinese as ¡°Sick men of East Asia¡±. The Europe wrestler had been overawed by Master Huo¡¯s humble yet indomitable spirit. After both of them had agreed at the rules of competition, the opponent was getting astonished at the ability of Master Huo. Finally, he admitted himself as loser and left the place before the competition began. Although the fight was terminated all of a sudden, Master Huo still performed a series of Kung Fu fists and received three times of free hand punching from the audience to show his strong basis.

A few days later, there was a person name Zhao came to challenge Master Huo. Master Huo rejected Zhao¡¯s request, as he did not want to cause hurt to any person of his same race. Zhao ambushed Huo and forced the latter to start his defense. At last, Zhao was defeated. Zhao knew he was unable to win Huo, therefore he persuaded his friend, Zhang to take revenge for him.

For the first fight, Huo allowed his student, Liu ZhengSheng to meet the challenger, but no decision could be reached after a considerable period. On the next day, Zhang insisted to have the battle with Huo, Huo finally accepted his challenge and defeated Zhang with just two moves.

Master Huo was getting famous; students from several schools were willing to follow him as the teacher. Master Huo started to form the Chin Woo Physical Training School. At the beginning period for setting up the Chin Woo Physical Training School was extremely difficult. All the 70 students faced limited training area and insufficient equipments / apparatus problems. They had to suffer and bear with the shortcomings. However, all the students still strived on and never gave up learning Wushu in such a poor condition.

When Master Huo still busy at forming up the Chin Woo Physical Training School, there were around 10 Judo Fellowship members from Japan Judo Club came over to challenge Master Huo. Both side fixed the judges together; who came from the Embassy of Japan. Master Huo ordered his student, Liu Zheng Sheng to take on the opponent. Since Liu was not familiar with Judo movement and skills, he stood straightly to observe his opponent. The Judo member attacked his breast hurriedly and tried to throw him onto the floor. Liu did not know the method to defeat him, so he stabled his steps until the opponent could not even move him. The other Judo members were astonished when watching the fight. This however brought shame on the Judo Fellowship when prompted ten of the members rushed out towards Liu, but none of them could move Liu successfully. The Judo teacher was urged to challenge Master Huo. Unfortunately, he was soon been brought to the floor with broken arms. The judges hurried stopped the battle and the Judo fellow members admitted to the failure.

The Judo Fellowship invited Master Huo to attend a dinner. During the conversation, the Japanese was told that Master Huo was suffering from illness and they introduced a Japanese doctor to Master Huo. Unpredictable, the Japanese doctor supplied Huo¡¯s some medicine that was found to be a poison causing the lung tissue to break down. Chin Woo Physical Training School just been opened for two months, Master Huo already left his students and passed away.

The Chinwoo members were never been beaten down by the difficulty obstacles. They built a new stage and organized a Sport Carnival for raising funds from the donation for the Chin Woo Physical Training School in autumn. Fortunately, Master Huo¡¯s brother Huo Yuan Qing came for rescue for this moment. He was not only improved Kung Fu practitioners¡¯ skills and techniques, at the same time, also promoted the famous name of Chinwoo Athletic Association among the society. Gradually, there were more and more people from all over the places having growing interested in learning Kung Fu.

To solve the problem of instructor shortage, there were several experienced and skillful Wushu instructors been invited such as Zhao Zheng Qun, Zhao Han Jie, Zhao Guan Yong, Lee Jian Ming, Zhang Fu Quan, Lee Zhan Feng, Lee Lian Chun, and the son of Mr. Huo, Dong Ge, and so on. The new instructors were distributed to take over the teaching task in different schools.

The members continuing to put in a great deal of work in achieving the success of it. The new Chinwoo had a wide coverage on all kinds of athletic. It was well organized and administrated with adequate equipments and lessons for all the members.

During the lifetime of Master Huo, it can be divided into three stages:

1) Below the age of 27 he was staying in a rural village, started to school at 7. It took him solid 10 years to become wellknown of his skill of wushu in the village. As he took up wushu practices at 12.

2) From the age of 28 to 41 he was in Tianjin. He has build up a special type of innovative thinking, he promotes strong sense for self respect, patriotic, energetic, he felt the there is a need to change the life style of the contemporary metropolitan community; people should fight for the human rights and justice.

3) At the age of 42, he fought for the righteous, for the love of the people and the country. He managed to wash away the name of ¡°Sick man of the East Asia¡± for the people of whole nation. This is the last part of his life yet it was the glorious one.

Master Hua was having a strong feeling to build up the strength of the nation by encouraging all the people to take up the training in wushu. He would ultimately expect the Chinese to restore order in the country, and to maintain a constant process of evolvement and renewal. As he saw the over the years, China has been sadly beset by foreign intrusion, suffered the combined invasion from other counties. He has the love for the Lofty Ideal of a Great Harmony Community.

The intention to add in the poisonous in the medicine was obvious to cause the death of Master Huo, However, with the love, motivation and moral thinking of the Chinwoo followers, they created the strong believes for the wisdom of mankind to keep keeping on the challenges of life and the spirit of Master Huo made thousands of their members moving on more aggressively with strong believes in doing the right deeds, building well-being character and always following the right direction.
